News that won't be there in your Prime Time : India's slips further in Global Hunger Index, 2022
Media or the institutional godi media, largely funded by Adani and Ambani, have unleashed their brigade reverberating the official statement of the government doubting its credibility. The same media praise to the skies when any report depicts improvements in government working. Then neither the government nor the media will doubt its credibility.
India has ranked 107th out of 121 countries in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2022, down from the 101st position the previous year. For the past two times, we have been trailing from Pakistan and Bangladesh as well.
Trinamool Congres MP Mahua Moitra on Saturday took a dig at the Centre after India was ranked 107 out of 121 countries in the Global Hunger Index 2022. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan of “na khaunga, na khane dunga” (would not take bribes, nor let anyone do so), Moitra tweeted, “Quite literally Modiji’s slogan has ensured India ranks 107/122 in Global Hunger Index.”. Moitra’s expression of criticism doubtlessly has intellectual humor in it.
Indian Government or Modi government (as many like to call it) like always negated the trustworthiness of the index. Government claimed it was an effort to taint the country's image and the index suffers from serious methodological issues and is an "erroneous measure" of hunger, while opposition leaders said the government must take responsibility for its "failure".
The government also used flowery language to dismiss the credibility of it. It officially released a statement noting “Misinformation hallmark of Global Hunger Index”. The government must be having officers with such intellect in using flowery language. We wish their intellect can be used in curbing rampant hunger across country.
It is also required to be noted that farmer suicide has been on sharp rise in India, especially in the states of Mahrashtra and Punjab. The data is unavailable for the other states as the government never wants these figures to be in public domain that tarnishes their image.
The total figure of 16,594 farmer suicides in six districts of Punjab explains the magnitude of the agrarian crisis and the feeling of alienation among agrarian communities in the state.
Farmer suicide continues to remain a matter of deep concern in India—Maharashtra reportedly witnessed a total of 1,875 farmer suicides this year between the months of January and August.
Media or the institutional godi media, largely funded by Adani and Ambani, have unleashed their brigade reverberating the official statement of the government doubting its credibility. The same media praise to the skies when any report depicts improvements in government working. Then neither the government nor the media will doubt its credibility.
The prime-time media debates never cover up these issues as “non Hindu-muslim” matters do not give them TRP’s and good lump sum amount from their bosses
Not to forget the increase in petrol and LPG prices have contributed to growing price of essential commodities.
Also Dear Government the report tarnishes the image of BJP led government not the country. This exposes the mockery the government is making of the whole system.
