The business reality show ‘Shark Tank India 2’ offers a platform to entrepreneurs with scalable, sellable business ideas.

Ashneer Grover, founder of BharatPe, became a fan favourite after the hit first season, thanks to his no-nonsense on-screen persona and general meme-ability in Shark Tank India. In an appearance on the Vagehra Vagehra podcast, Ashneer said that this was a major reason behind his absence from season two. He said that he ‘dominated’ season one, and implied that a deal couldn’t be struck for his return.

Quint wrote "The second season of Shark Tank India is an all-in-one buffet of everything you’ve ever watched on Indian TV.  Bas saas bahu aur saazish baaki hai. There are  Indian Idol  and  KBC-esque sob story documentaries now. The only thing they had me thinking is: can you imagine making a whole documentary about someone’s story and then just…not giving them funding? "

One of the users tweeted "Is it mandatory for a show in india to have an emotional drama to feature on television, season 1 pitches were far better than what season 2 is looking like. Business pitch kr rhe ho yaa emotional drama bech rhe ho?"

"is Horribly dramatised, replete with fake back stories planted to make it sound emotional for no reason"

"Are yaar @Ashneer_Grover sir kyo nhi hai  #SharkTankIndiaS2 me ? Ab ye naya season DOGLAPAN hi lag raha hai bhai.. Really missed  @Ashneer_Grover "

The show also mired in a controversy when in the first episode of Shark Tank India on Monday, sharks rejected a pitch just because it would have posed competition for ‘friend’ Vineeta Singh's makeup brand.

All the sharks were very impressed with how two small-town entrepreneurs pitched their homegrown makeup brand Recode and revealed some interesting business strategies which left the sharks stunned.

All of them, except Peyush Bansal, still rejected the pitch just because it was from the same industry as Vineeta Singh.
